AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY

Paula Hines Lonergan is the owner of PRL PUBLISHING, as well as an author, writer, commentator, and the daughter of Coach Paul "Doc" Hines, featured in the Disney movie "Remember the Titans". Her father's character was played by Greg Alan Williams.

Paula is a freelance writer who has been published in magazines across the country. She created the creator of the online news series entitled "Commontary On...." and the quarterly magazine, Positivity IN FOCUS. She has also perform speaking engagements and taught seminars and workshops nationwide.

Although being a victim of sexual abuse at the hands of an older family member for many years during her childhood into late adolsecence, as well as physical violence from another family member, she remained close-lipped about the abuse for many years.

Now, as a survivor, she recognizes it was the tenacity and determination learned from her father that helped her to carry on. And his enduring love that gave her the courage to speak up about it.

Authoring A Titan of a Man has been a wonderful experience for her. In her own voice, she tells the story about her father, Coach Paul "Doc" Hines. She discusses the mind over matter "if you don't mind, it don't matter" attitude, he believed in and taught his students, players, and children. By her learning from her father she developed fortitude and the willpower to never give up, no matter what.

She started writing A Titan of a Man on June 10, 2002 and finished the first draft in one month later on July 10. In her endeavors to get her manuscript published, she received many letters (a total of 15) from various publishing companies refusing, albiet politely, to publish her manuscript. But, she did not give up.

So in the summer of 2003, she founded PRL PUBLISHING, primarily as a book publishing company. A Titan of a Man. first edition, was released in October 2003, along with an accompanying working entitled Mind Over Matter Leadership Workbook. Her second Babies Dribble and Drool was released eight months later in June 2004.

She completed her third book, Felines Shed Fur and Purr, which was released (limited) in January 2005. In 2010, she was encouraged by a friend to update and revise A Titan of a Man. It was finally published in 2012. Fortunately, she was able to read the revised version to her father before he died.

While she misses her faather everyday, she is happy his legacy is carried on in her writings and the lessons she learned from him remain in her heart. She continues to write, consult, and speak. She is based out of Pasadena, California.
